Southeast Animal Hospital is looking for a part time or full time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the team! We are looking for an outgoing, experienced, and friendly individual to join. We do require you to have a minimum of 2 years experience working at a veterinary hospital. You are someone who is an excellent communicator, organized, attentive to detail, team oriented, and passionate about helping people and their pets.
Job description/Requirement:
- NYS Licensed
- You have a positive and helpful attitude which will reflect in your communications with clients and the team.
- The ability to learn Digitail, our veterinary hospital software. Knowledge of Google Drive, Google Docs and Google sheets a plus.
- Calling pet owners with results, medication refills and any other communications asked of you by the veterinarian. Calling in medication to outside pharmacies.
- You will perform diagnostic testing in house and prepare samples to go out to the lab
- Monitor and assist the veterinarian with anesthesia, surgeries, procedures, dentals, X Rays and ultrasounds for all types of animals. Prepare and clean surgery packs/equipment as needed. Maintain inventory for all surgical supplies
- Flexibility to start your shift 30-45 minutes earlier on surgery days, stay late as needed, and work 1-2 Saturdays a month
- Restrain all type of animals and temperaments (large, small, aquatic, small farm animals and a variety of exotics)
- Administer medications and vaccines, blood draws
- Meticulous record keeping when logging medication and client communications
- Assisting other team members as needed including but not limited to hospital cleaning, checking clients in and out and client education
- You are comfortable occasionally doing a house call with either an assistant or veterinarian
- You will follow company policy and procedures
- You have the ability to multitask answering a multi line phone system, greeting and checking out clients and responding to email.
- You are meticulous with recording communications with clients in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Assist other team members as needed including but not limited to holding a patient, inventory or cleaning
- You are willing and able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
